DEA Special Agent Evelina Mendoza requested extraction from a dangerous undercover operation and had a high-tech microchip implanted in the palm of her hand.

Agent Mendoza was in a midtown-Boston commuter bus at 8:14 AM, when an unknown assailant donned a gas mask and released a contaminant that froze (solidified) the air that all of the commuters were breathing.
The first responders to the bus incident were worried it was another bio-terrorism attack, but the CDC confirmed that the attack was not biological in nature.
Dr. Walter Bishop commented that Agent Mendoza, and the others onboard, seemed like “mosquitoes trapped in amber”.
Peter Bishop commented that, because of the bizarre nature of the event, “the attackers wanted attention”.
The primary attacker collected all of the bags and backpacks of the commuters that were killed, including Agent Mendoza’s.
After reviewing casual footage taken by a passenger, Agent Dunham noted that Mendoza originally had a backpack, but that it was not on the bus after the attack.
The joint task force determined that Evelina Mendoza was an undercover drug agent, and wanted to bring her “handler”, Agent Davidson, in for questioning.
After reviewing Mendoza’s file, Agent Broyles offers his condolences to Agent Davidson – stating that Agent Mendoza was an exemplary agent.
According to Agent Davidson, Agent Mendoza had been investigating the - East Coast representatives of a Nicaraguan drug cartel – a cartel that had recently become aware of The Pattern. After setting up a meeting with Agent Mendoza, Agent Davidson claimed that she never showed-up.
Agent Broyles expressed concern that whoever attacked the bus, might be interested in what Agent Mendoza was carrying. Agent Davidson says he had no ideas about that.
Agent Davidson claimed that he had been tasked to officially identify the body of Agent Mendoza.
Agent Dunham asked Agent Davidson if he had notified Agent Mendoza’s next-of-kin. Agent Davidson replied that Agent Mendoza had a brother that she did not talk to you.

Morgue Secrets
Agent Davidson stated that he did not know how hard (emotionally) it was going to be to identify Agent Mendoza’s body. Agent Dunham replied that she knew how hard it was... when you’re working closely with someone, referring to her love interest, Agent John Scott .
Agent Davidson secretly cut an amber-colored microchip from the hand of Agent Mendoza, after entering the morgue to identify her body.
Nina Sharp says that there was an attack similar to the one on the commuter bus that killed Agent Mendoza. It occurred in Prague, and that there were fewer casualties.
After Agent Dunham determined that Agent Davidson had deceived her, she inspected Agent Mendoza’s hand, and found a 3-inch incision in her palm.
Agent Broyles told Agent Dunham that he thinks Agent Davidson works for the same people who attacked the bus that Agent Mendoza was on.
The assassins (attackers) that conspired to murder Agent Mendoza appear to speak fluent Latin whenever they utilized the Ghost Network.
The task force determined that Matthew Ziegler was the attacker that killed Agent Mendoza on the commuter bus, and that he had been identified in two other ‘’Pattern-related’’ cases.
